(1655.4) ^147:7.2 El martes por la tarde, Jesús estaba dirigiendo una de sus clases habituales de preguntas y respuestas, cuando el jefe de los seis espías le dijo: «Hoy estaba hablando con uno de los discípulos de Juan, que está aquí asistiendo a tu enseñanza, y no acertábamos a comprender por qué nunca ordenas a tus discípulos que ayunen y recen, como nosotros los fariseos ayunamos, y como Juan lo mandó a sus discípulos.» Refiriéndose a una declaración de Juan, Jesús respondió a este interrogador: «¿Acaso ayunan los pajes de honor cuando el novio está con ellos? Mientras el novio permanece con ellos, difícilmente pueden ayunar. Pero se acerca la hora en que el novio será apartado de allí, y entonces los pajes de honor ayunarán y orarán indudablemente. […]

BRIDE-CHAMBER, SONS (CHILDREN) OF THE

(hoi huioi tou numphonos):

These were friends or companions of the bridegroom and were usually very numerous (Matthew 9:15; Mark 2:19; Luke 5:34). Any wedding guest might be included in the expression, or anyone who took part in the bridal procession and remained for the wedding-feast (see MARRIAGE). In the above passages "the sons of the bride-chamber" are the disciples of Christ.
