52.3  The creatures of Havona are naturally brave, but they are not courageous in the human sense. They are innately kind and considerate, but hardly altruistic in the human way. They are expectant of a pleasant future, but not hopeful in the exquisite manner of the trusting mortal of the uncertain evolutionary spheres.

(trad sevillana y latinoamaericana)

Bob Hurt:
The author tries to explain the difference between Havona citizens and “humans,” and between their environments.
Architectural spheres have perfect stability and regulation.  Comets, meteors, and astronomical anomalies do not affect them.  They have perfect “weather.” Residents have perfect certainty about the environment and its hazards to them. No scary animals or fellow residents threaten them.  Residents have perfect forms and don’t die

The evolutionary worlds present constant danger to the residents because of weather (hurricanes, tornados, electrical storms, torrential rain, hail, blizzards, ice storms), astronomical anomalies (meteors, comets, solar flares, solar/lunar gravity, sunlight, atmosphere irregularities), geological anomalies (volcanoes, earthquakes, river floods, tsunamis), nearby energy circuits (Bermuda Triangle), and animals (warfare, wild or vicious beasts, poison snakes and insects, sharks, vampire squids, werewolves).  Human life gets snuffed out all the time by such dangers.  And, sickness, disease, traffic accidents, and the like cause dysfunction of the human form, disabling or killing it unpredictably.
As a consequence, while similarities between Havona residents and humans do exist, in one profound area they differ:  certainty.  Things seem relatively certain and predictable in the environment of Havona, but very uncertain, and therefore relatively unpredictable on the evolutionary worlds where humans live.
